“Green For All and NRDC have released a new report, "Green Prosperity: How Clean-Energy Policies Can Fight Poverty and Raise Living Standards in the United States," by the Political Economy Research Institute. In "Green Prosperity", top economists further confirm what we already know: Investments in clean energy are good for low-income people and the U.S economy. The report finds that through employment opportunities, lower energy bills, and lower transportation costs, clean energy investments would raise living standards for low-income Americans. A $150 billion investment in clean energy would create 1.7 million net American jobs. That's three times more jobs than the dirty energy industry could create with the same investment.”

Meanwhile Oregon Conservation Network points out some sensible state legislation:
“The idea is simple: energy efficiency is the fastest and cheapest way to foster jobs and create energy independence.
House Bill 2626-B does this by creating new, low-interest loans structured so that monthly payments are lower than the amount of money saved each month from the energy savings of the new energy-efficiency projects. This allows the upfront cost of the project to be spread over the life of the loan and allows building owners to see the immediate financial benefits of making clean energy investments. Because the building owners have lower total energy costs—even with the loan payment—the loan is an amazingly secure investment and will attract keen investors.
 
This bill passed out of subcommittee and is now in the Full Ways and Means Committee.”

Bill was part of a select group of 50 individuals chosen to receive intensive training by Gore and a team of renowned scientists about issues surrounding global warming.  Each received technical training to become experienced presenters of a version of Gore’s computer-based slide show, which became the basis of his best-selling book and documentary film, “An Inconvenient Truth.” Bill has adapted the presentation for an Oregon audience.
